NEWS FROM PENNY AND MIKE

Valencia

The weather became more and more like an English winter in south-west Andalucia, so we made a quick decision before the next storm to ’get the hell out of here’. The brilliant Ventusky App showed that if we could get north of Valencia we would miss the worst of the wind and rain, so that’s where we went.

Valencia is the capital of the province of the same name, roughly half way down the east coast of Spain, 300 miles from the south-eastern tip and 300 miles from the French border. The historic centre was crammed with beautiful buildings, but a half hour walk south brought us to a collection of new architecture which was jaw-dropping, especially the Art and Science Museums.

We have seen many shells in pavements throughout Spain indicating the Camino de Santiago

This was our favourite building, the train station which was highly decorated in art nouveau style.
